Power Plants across the country are closing their doors for new Federally Mandated plant conversions.
Coal plants are converting to more renewable plants.
This is great news for our planet!
BUT, how will this affect your home/ utilities?
Power companies are charging their customers for the plant conversion.
A local power company is calling it “time of use pricing”, some are calling it “peak hour pricing”.
The concept is that the Kilowatt Hour (KWH) charges increasing during “busy hours”
Example:
On-peak: Weekdays 3-7 p.m., excluding holidays
Mid-peak: Weekdays 1-3 p.m., excluding holidays
Off-peak: Daily, 7 p.m.-1 p.m. the next day
These “busy hours” or “On- Peak” were increased by up to $.012 per KWH
